I thought readers might like to know the back story of this post. I read Chris Taylor's post on the dangers of twitter and other social media on another NRCan blog, IT4IT. I loved it because it presented a different perspective on social media from the ones we typically hear, which is that social media are great. So I left a comment asking Chris what social media he did think were safe. He sent me a long email that I thought would make a great post for my blog, Café Jen. I persuaded Chris to publish his views on my blog and his post generated a fair degree of commentary. One of the great things about all of our blogs at NRCan is that we have created a space to share and debate ideas. It's interesting to see those ideas leak out beyond the department to the broader Public Service.
